Immunoassay for Clostridium difficile |
It is a rapid immunoassay for detecting Clostridium difficile toxins A & B in fecal specimens from persons suspected of having C. difficile disease. C. difficile is an opportunistic anaerobic bacterium .Its toxigenic strains cause gastrointestinal problems ranging from mild diarrhea to severe pseudomembranous colitis in patients after treatment with antibiotics.
The test uses specific antibodies specific for toxins A and B and is used as an aid in the diagnosis of C. difficile disease. The results are available in 24 hours.
